Routes

  • In the previous races, the riders have traveled 27.557 km
  • 240 stages were played, including 9 criteria and 39 individual time trials
  • Most, because six stages were played in 1974, 84 and 96
  • After 2 “time trials” in one race was held in 1974, 80, 81, 84, 97 and 98, since 2002 the race does not play the stages of time trials
  • The shortest stages are “time trials” – prologues 1,400 meters in Krakow to the Kościuszko Mound in 1997 and 1998, and the longest stages are Rabka – Gorlice 199 km in 2004 and Maków Podhalański – Jordanów 195 km in 2000

Cyclists

  • In the previous races 6.216 riders took part, and 3.673 riders finished them, which is 58% of the runners, but in 1970 it was only 36%, and in 2004 and 2005 -37%
  • Most cyclists, 183 stood at the start in 1979, and in 1975 there were 176. The least, because 44 and 45 took off in the first races in 1961 and 62
  • The most riders finished the race in 2023 – 14, 2021 – 140, 2022 – 122 and 1979 – 104. The lowest cyclists were seen at the finish line in 1969 – 21, 1962 – 22 and 1998 – 23
  • The list of winners of 61 races consists of only 53 names, because the record holder Zbigniew Piątek won the race 3 times (1989, 98 and 2001), and two times on the highest podium stood: Marian Forma (1965 and 68), Ryszard Szurkowski (1974 and 77) Roman Cieślak (1980 and 83), Tomasz Brożyna (1995 and 99), Cezary Zamana (2003 and 2005) and Marek Rutkiewicz (2006 and 2012)
  • Ryszard Szurkowski is the “king” of stage victories, who won 8 stages. And in the top “10” of the final classification of the race Zbigniew Piątek marked his presence 8 times, Ryszard Szurkowski, Radosław Romanik and Marek Rutkiewicz six times, while the two-time race winners Marian Forma and Roman Cieślak only … twice – in the first place.
  • 9 times the race was won by foreign riders: in 1997, Latvian Dainis Ozols, in 2004 Czech Ondrej Fadrny, in 2014 Germany Maksimilian Werda, in 2015 Slovene Marko Kump, and in 2018 by Portuguese Amaro Antunes, in 2020 i 2021 Czech Wojtech Repa i Michal Schlegel, in 2022 Germany Jonas Rapp, 2023 Hungarian Marton Dina At the final podium (places 1-3) we saw foreign cyclists only 26 times out of 180 possible places
  • The first foreign cyclist on the podium in 1974 was world champion and German Olympic champion Hans Joachim Hartnick, who finished second in the first stage after … Polish world champion and Olympic vice-champion Ryszard Szurkowski
  • Twice there was no Pole on the final podium. In 2015, the race was won by the Slovenian Marko Kump ahead of the Ukrainian Vitali Buts and the Danish Martin Herbek Gron, and in 2022 the best riders participating in the Hrinkow Advaricis Cycleang group: German Jonas Rapp ahead of the Austrian Rainer Kepplinger. The third was the representative of Ukraine Anatoly Budyak.
  • Of the 240 stages played so far, the foreign riders have won 36, but from this in the last 10 years as many as 21.
